HISD’s Future 2 schools are part of the district’s next phase of instructional and student-experience innovation, designed to prepare students for a rapidly changing, AI-enabled world and workplace. Future 2 builds on the district’s New Education System foundation by pairing strong academic instruction with intentional, real-world learning experiences that help students develop durable competencies, career awareness, leadership, problem-solving, communication, and a deeper understanding of the city around them.

Through the Experience Houston initiative, HISD seeks partners who can help students learn beyond the classroom by connecting classroom learning to Houston’s culture, history, industries, institutions, and communities through meaningful, engaging experiences. These experiences should support student growth, expand awareness of future opportunities, and align with the competencies and goals of the Future 2 model.
